24 more cases of Omicron variant confirmed in Nepal



KATHMANDU: 24 cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus have been confirmed in Nepal.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, out of 24 samples sent for gene-sequencing of late, all were confirmed with Omicron.

During the screening of 1146 positive samples of coronavirus collected in the past three weeks, 250 were found to be S-negative. Of the S-negative cases, 24 were gene-sequenced and all of them were confirmed to be infected with Omicron.

Issuing a press release on Friday, Sangeeta Mishra, the spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed the Omicron cases and urged all hospitals to stay alert against the coronavirus transmission.
