Five-party task force likely to finalize allocation of seats today

KATHMANDU: The task force formed to finalize the distribution of seats between the ruling coalition is likely to conclude today.

The task force is scheduled to finalize its report and submit it to the top leaders of the five-party ruling coalition.

The task force would conclude its task by Tuesday evening and then submit the framework report to the top leadership.

With the alliance constituent parties observing flexibility on their stance regarding seat sharing, the debate on the number of seats has become less contentious, a leader said.

Communication Minister and Government Spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki informed that the meeting held on Monday discussed seat-sharing of all 165 constituencies.

According to sources, the meeting of the task force will be held on Tuesday as well.

The task force would settle the issue of seat-sharing scientifically and judiciously, also taking into consideration the vote won by the parties in the past and some pressing political matters.

The five-party coalition had formed a task force headed by NC leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula to chart out a framework of the electoral alliance for the upcoming general elections.
