KATHMANDU: Political parties have agreed to form an 11-member parliamentary committee to probe Finance Minister Janardan Sharma’s alleged role in the CCTV footage removal scam.
The main opposition CPN-UML had been demanding the formation of a parliamentary inquiry committee saying that Finance Minister Sharma had involved unauthorized persons in the preparation of the budget.
The ruling parties agreed to form a committee after the parliament was blocked.
According to the Parliament Secretariat, the committee will have 11 members.
The parliamentary inquiry committee will have four members from CPN-UML, the largest party in parliament, two each from the Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist Center, and one each from the CPN- Unified Socialist, Janata Samajwadi Party and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party.
It is said that the formal announcement of the committee will be made after the political parties submit the name of their representatives.
