Maoist Chair Prachanda likely to announce office bearers, SC

KATHMANDU: Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” is likely to announce the party’s office bearers and Standing Committee today.

The party is holding its Central Committee meeting at Nepal Academy, Kamaladi on Wednesday afternoon.

Party Chairman Prachanda had on Tuesday postponed the Central Committee meeting and held a discussion with the former committee members at his private residence in Khumaltar.

The Central Committee meeting has already entrusted Prachanda to select and announce the names of office-bearers.

The party is yet to announce the office bearers and SC members even after holding the party’s general convention.

Party leaders, including Barshaman Pun and Janardan Sharma, are eyeing the post of General Secretary.

On Tuesday, Pun and Sharma had suggested to Prachanda that they would be ready to work as the party’s general secretary.

They suggested Chairman Prachanda select the office bearers in a way that would make him comfortable.

Likewise, leaders, including Pampha Bhusal, Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Haribol Gajurel and Giriraj Mani Pokharel have also been claiming the post of general secretary.
