Seven arrested on charge of gang-raping minor



BANKE: Police have arrested seven people on the charge of gang-raping a 16-year-old-girl in Banke.

According to District Police Office, Banke’s Deputy Superintendent Madhusudan Neupane, Hemraj Tharu, 17, who was known to the girl through Facebook invited her to meet him at his ‘birthday celebrations’ and he and his friends allegedly raped her.

The minor was raped in different locations: first by five in the Mankhola forest along the border of Banke and Bardiya districts and by two in a hut based in Baijanath.

Tharu convinced the girl to visit him on the pretext of his birthday celebrations.

Nirajan Tharu, Bikrant Tharu, Prabin Tharu, Raj Kumar Tharu, Bishwanath Tharu and Nirdesh Tharu are among the arrested for their alleged involvement in the crime.

The incident came to light after a security squad from the Area Police Office, Dhanauli saw three, including the minor, on a motorcycle (Bhe 3 Pa 3527) at Khajura rural municipality-5.
