Prachanda objects to portrayal of women candidates merely as daughters and wives

CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has objected to the portrayal of women candidates merely as daughters and wives during election campaigning.

Addressing an election rally of the ruling coalition in Kathmandu on Friday, he said campaigning for female candidates merely as someone’s daughter and wife in the election was equivalent to insulting women in general.

Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that he proposed Renu Dahal as the mayoral candidate in Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

Supreme Court upholds Rautahat court’s decision in Alam’s case

The Supreme Court has approved Rautahat District Court’s decision to remand in custody homicide-accused former Minister Mohammad Aftab Alam until the final verdict in the case.

The apex court upheld the district court’s order to proceed his case by keeping him in custody.

Alam was arrested in connection to a bombing on April 9, 2008.

Indian climber dies while climbing Mt. Kanchenjunga

An Indian climber died on Mt. Kanchenjunga, the third-highest peak in the world while ascending Friday morning, the expedition agency Pioneer Adventure said.

Narayan Iyer, 52, is the first casualty of the spring season on Kanchenjunga. He breathed his last at an altitude of 8200 meters.
