Minister Karki instructs to work in a way people can directly feel govt

KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has directed subordinate bodies to work in a manner where the public would directly feel the presence of the government.

He directed for the same at the third quarterly progress review meeting of the Ministry and ministerial development problems resolution committee in the Ministry on Friday.

Stating that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoCIT) is directly concerned with the people, Karki appealed with the subordinate agencies to work in a result-oriented manner.

Asking the meetings’ attendees if they were satisfied with the review of quarterly progress, the Minister admitted that he was not satisfied with the review.

Minister Karki was of the view that we should assess if we delivered as per the performance agreement or not. He instructed the Nepal Telecommunications Authority to address the network related problem at the earliest.

He pledged to include the agendas in the upcoming fiscal year’s policy and program, and budget, stating that we should work at a fast pace to meet the expectation of the public for development and prosperity.

Similarly, Secretary at MoCIT Dr Baikuntha Aryal said that current fiscal year had seen more progress compared to the previous fiscal year.

He underscored completing the works related to digital archive within the next fiscal year and resolve the digital signature related problems as well.

During the meeting, representatives from Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Department of Information and Broadcasting, Press Council Nepal, Nepal Television and Nepal Telecommunications Company Ltd among others presented their respective progress reports.
