Chief Election Commissioner Thapaliya urges for election-focused media coverage

KATHMANDU: Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya has urged the chiefs of State-run media and representatives to focus election in their coverage.

As the entire country is engrossed on local level elections, the media should also mobilize its human resources for the same, he suggested.

During a discussion with the chiefs of State-run media and representatives today, Chief Commissioner Thapaliya stressed on ensuring free, fair and economical elections, for which, he argued, media could play a significant role.

Media could make election publicity in an effective way, he added. He also said the public media are independent and autonomous so they could bring the stories from local levels with their human resources.

The approved election preparation schedule was not affected so far, Thapalilya reminded, adding that printing of ballot papers had also begun.
