CIB submits report on Lalita Niwas land scam to district attorney



KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has completed the investigation on the embezzlement on Lalita Niwas land of Baluwatar and submitted its report to the office of district attorney.

CIB Spokesperson Shyam Kumar Mahato said separate reports of four cases were submitted to the Kathmandu District Attorney. It took two years for the completion of the investigation.

As the forgery on government records falls under the criminal offense, the CIB had earlier initiated the investigation by taking permission from the court for arrest warrant against 300 accused ones. The reports showed that various high profile people are involved in the scam. The CIB has, however, not disclosed the names of the persons accused in the report.

“We completed the necessary investigation and submitted the report before the district attorney,” said Spokesperson Mahato, adding that the district attorney would now inspect the proofs and verification then file cases with charge-sheet.”

The Kathmandu District Attorney said that it begun necessary study of the report on Thursday itself. The limitation of the case is of two years. So, in view of the limitation, the case must be filed before January 11.

The CIB has been investigating into the embezzlement by arresting Ram Kumar Subedi and his spouse Madhavi Subedi two weeks back. The reports made with investigation earlier had showed that the government records on 143 ropanis of Lalita niwas land was embezzled from 2049BS to 2069BS.

On the other hand, the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has already filed a case against 175 on the Lalita niwas land scam.
