DOTI: The District Administration Office (DAO) in Doti has banned the sales and distribution of alcohol in view of the upcoming election.

The House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly elections are scheduled on November 20 this year in a single phase.

According to the Chief District Officer Kalpana Shrestha, the prohibition was imposed to hold upcoming elections in free, fair and peaceful environment.

A notice issued by Administrative Officer in Doti DAO, Deepa Joshi, last Friday read, “Transportation, sales, distribution and consumption of alcohol in Doti district is prohibited effective from November 5 midnight to the time when final result of the elections under the First-Past-The-Post system is announced.”

Voters, political parties and politicians, stakeholders and Doti dwellers have been requested for their cooperation to make the upcoming election a success, CDO Shrestha said.
