UML Chair Oli did not receive calls, the opposition was not ignored: Minister Karki

KATHMANDU: Government spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communication Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said that the opposition was not ignored while announcing the election date.

Minister Karki claimed that he called CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli to consult about the announcement of the election date before Thursday’s cabinet meeting, but was unable to get in touch.

Speaking to the media after the meeting of the ruling coalition, government spokesperson Karki said that it is wrong to say that the opposition has been ignored.

Minister Kari’s remarks came after some UML leaders complained that the government did not consult with the opposition while announcing the election. He also said that since the election is expected on November 20, everyone is aware of it.

He said that the meeting of the ruling coalition decided to coordinate between all the five parties in the federal and the provincial election . He said that the ruling coalition will proceed by forming a task group on matters such as modalities of coalition.
