Nine die as bus plunges into river in Rupandehi



KATHMANDU: At least nine people have been killed when a bus fell into the Rohini River on the Bhairahawa-Parasi road in the Rupandehi district.

As many as 23 people have been injured in the accident when a bus — Lu 2 Kha 3841 — heading towards Bhairahawa from Janakpur fell into the river breaking the railing of the bridge, local authorities have said.

Of the seriously injured, five died at Bhairahawa-based Medical College and four at Bhim Hospital, according to hospital sources.

Those injured are undergoing treatment at Bhim Hospital and Medical College, said Rupandehi Traffic Police Chief Keshav KC.

Police are investigating the incident.
