NEPSE index sheds 37.06 points to close at 2,238.62 points on Thursday



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index lost 37.06 points and closed at 2,238.62 on the last trading day of the week. The index registered a loss of 1.63 percent in terms of percentage.

The NEPSE index, which has been spiraling downwards for the past some time, had lost 31.76 points on Wednesday.

The index that opened at 2,275.43 points made an intraday low at 2,225.79 and finally closed at 2,238.62 points on Thursday.

The downward trend of stock market continues and today’s closing marks the lowest since January 10, 2021.

A total of 4,674,940 shares of 232 companies traded hands via 34,260 transactions, resulting in a turnover of Rs 1.65 billion on Thursday. The turnover in NEPSE on Wednesday was Rs 1.26 billion.

Surya Life Insurance Company Limited recorded the highest turnover of Rs. 80.45 million and the promoter shares of Nepal Credit & Commercial Bank Ltd were the top stock traded at the end of this trading week.

Jalpa Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited became the highest gainer and hitting the positive circuit breaker level of 10 percent on Thursday.
