EC writes to Home Ministry urging to call back SP Shahi deployed at joint election cell

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs urging to call back Superintendent of Police (SP) Dipendra Shahi deployed at the EC, alleging that the SP mistreated and verbally abused an Election Commissioner.

A source at the EC said that SP Dipendra Shahi, who was deployed at the Joint Election Cell, verbally abused and mistreated Election Commissioner Dr Janaki Tuladhar.

“The SP’s vehicle collided with the commissioner’s vehicle on Wednesday afternoon. After that, the SP behaved rudely. The commissioner was treated indecently,” said a source close to the EC.

“Immediately after the incident, an EC meeting decided to write to the Home Ministry asking it to call the SP back.”

The Election Commission has also decided to write to the Home Ministry to investigate the incident.
