NC and Maoist Center cadres clash with each other in Rukum West

RUKUM WEST: Skirmishes have taken place between the cadres of the Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) during an election campaign in the district.

The NC has claimed that the Maoist Center cadres pelted stones at the vehicle boarded by Amar Singh Khadka, the candidate for the post of chairperson of Tribeni rural municipality. The vehicle was stoned when it was heading to Tribeni-5 from Tribeni-9. Six people sustained minor injuries in the incident, said police.

Unlike the account given by the NC, the Maoist Center claimed that the NC cadres vandalized the house of district committee member of Maoist Center Chudamani Basnet. Security personnel was deployed following the clashes between the cadres of the two rival parties.

“NC has claimed that the vehicle boarded by its candidate was pelted with a stone. Maoist Center has claimed that its district committee member’s house was vandalized. We are investigating the case,” said DSP Bishnu Prasad Soti.

Out of six local units, NC and CPN-UML have formed an electoral alliance in four local bodies.
