Ruling coalition holding joint rally in Bharatpur metropolis today

Top leaders including Deuba and Prachanda to address rally

KATHMANDU: The ruling five-party alliance is holding a joint rally in Bharatpur today.

CPN-Maoist Center Chitwan Coordinator Ram Chandra Adhikari said that the rally to be held at the Central Bus Terminal in Bharatpur would be addressed by the top leaders of the ruling alliance.

Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, among others, are to address the gathering.

Prime Minister She Bahadur Deuba reached Chitwan to address the joint election rally on Wednesday itself. He used his private vehicle to reach the hotel from the airport. According to his secretariat, Prime Minister Deuba used his private vehicle since he was participating in the election campaign.

Besides the three former prime ministers, senior NC leader Ram Chandra Poudel, General Secretary Gagan Thapa, leader Shekhar Koirala, leaders of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Janarmarcha will also address the rally.

Prachanda’s daughter Renu Dahal is the common candidate of the ruling coalition in Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

The ruling coalition and the opposition CPN-UML have been regarding Bharatpur metropolis as a prestige issue and striving their best to seal victory over there.

Similarly, NC has fielded Chitrasen Adhikari for the post of deputy mayor of the metropolis.

However, ruling alliance dreads former NC lawmaker Jagannath Poudel’s independent candidacy in the metropolis.

It is learned that Prime Minister Deuba will urge NC rebel candidate Paudel to withdraw his candidacy and support the party.
