Ruling coalition forms mechanism for electoral alliance
The ruling coalition, which is preparing to contest the local elections by forging an electoral alliance, has formed a mechanism at the central level to coordinate the distribution of candidates.
A meeting of the coalition held at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar on Tuesday formed a mechanism headed by Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel with representatives of all parties to decide on the candidate on the basis of suggestions from the lower echelons.
NC to form election mobilization and publicity committees in all levels
Ruling Nepali Congress (NC) is making preparations to form an election mobilization and publicity committee for the upcoming local level elections in seven provinces.
A central election mobilization and publicity committees have directed subordinate bodies to form such committees as part of preparations of the local level elections to be held on May 13.
India to fund Rs 41.13 mln for Waste Water Management Project at Solukhumbu
The Embassy of India in Kathmandu has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, and Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality, Soulukhumbu, for the construction of Khumjung Khunde Waste Water Management Project on Tuesday.
7.5 million children to be vaccinated against typhoid
The Ministry of Health and Population is to innoculate 7.5 million children against typhoid.
Chief of the Child Health and Vaccination Section at the Department of Health, Sagar Dahal, said children between the age of one year three months to 15 years would be administered the vaccines against typhoid. The vaccination program will be conducted from April 8 to May 1.

Political parties taking part in local level election scheduled for May 13 have expressed commitment to fully abide by necessary rules and laws in order to hold election in a free, fear-free, trustworthy environment.
President Bhandari issues five ordinances
President Bidya Devi Bhandari has issued five ordinances on Tuesday on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
According to the President’s Office, Shital Niwas, the ordinances issued today are as follows: Ordinance for amending some Acts against Sexual Violence, Ordinance on amending some Acts relating to Criminal Offenses and Criminal Procedure, Ordinance on Social Security (First Amendment), Ordinance on Regulation of Acid and Other Hazardous Chemicals Substances, and Ordinance on Supervision and Coordination Operation of Nepal Police and State Police (First Amendment).
Stock market goes down by 46.46 points Tuesday
The stock market witnessed the continuation of downtrend and declined by 46.46 points to reach 2452.06 points Tuesday.
A total of 58.41 million shares of 228 companies were traded during on the third trading day of the week, resulting in a turnover of Rs 2.67 billion. This is more than the previous day.
Journo Rishi Dhamala in hot water, Press Council seeks explanation
Press Council Nepal (PCN), the media regulatory body, has sought an immediate explanation from journalist Rishi Dhamala regarding the latter’s recent reporting from inside a plane.
Writing a letter to journo Dhamala, PCN has asked him (Dhamala) to submit an explanation for creating a mess (inside the plane in which Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba was traveling) while reporting from restricted and sensitive zones, within 24 hours.
