KATHMANDU: A panel of legal practitioners close to the ruling coalition has taken the lead in the ongoing vote count of the Nepal Bar Association.

Gopal Krishna Ghimire, who is vying for Nepal Bar presidency from the ruling coalition, is leading the race against rival candidate Bishnumani Adhikari represented by law practitioners close to the main opposition CPN-UML. In the ongoing counting of votes, Ghimire has 213 votes cast for him while Adhikari has received only 101 votes.

Likewise, for the post of Nepal Bar general secretary, Anjita Khanal of the coalition is ahead with 191 votes with progressive panel’s Kedar Koirala chasing behind with 131 votes.
