Leader Koirala bats for need-based electoral alliance

KATHMANDU: Central member of the Nepali Congress Dr Shekhar Koirala has directed the party cadres to forge electoral alliance based on need and relevance in the local level election.

The cadres in province, district, municipality and wards were urged to build alliance based on need, he reminded during a cadres meet in Pokhara on Monday. He however said, “Only competent and qualified leaders at local level should be picked for election candidate. As per party statute, province level should play a coordinating role to this regard.”

Leader Koirala also reminded that in the name of electoral alliance with CPN (Maoist Centre) in the last local level election, NC was defeated in many places while NC made Maoist party victorious. The past mistake of alliance like that of Bharatpur Metropolitan City must not be repeated, he warned.

It is challenging for the NC voters to cast vote on other symbol except ‘Tree’, he said, adding, “Party needs proper management to this regard.
