Madhesh govt forms high level committee to study farmers’ problems in Madhesh



KATHMANDU: The Madhesh province government has formed a high level committee to identify and suggest solution to solve the problems of farmers.

As a measure to address the issues addressed by Dr. CK Raut-led Janamat Party Nepal’s agitation, a meeting of the Madhesh government’s Council of Ministers held Saturday formed a five-member committee under the coordination of Minister for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives Vijay Kumar Yadav.

Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Shatrudhan Mahato, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications Bharat Prasad Sah, Minister for Finance Shailendra Prasad Sah and Minister for Drinking Water and Energy Development Om Prakash Sarraf are also the members of the committee.

The committee will review the activities relating to  agriculture and livestock development, status of fertilizer and seeds in the province, irrigation problems, status of Insurance, status of Inundation, status of agricultural mechanization and upcoming strategies, and land use policy of Madhesh Pradesh among others.

The committee has been granted a fortnight to submit the report.
