We want justice, won’t bargain for power sharing: Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that he wants justice and the concern of Dr. Shekhar Koirala’s team is for justice not for certain appointments or posts.

Speaking at the NC General Convention review meet convened by leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala at Basera Hotel in Kathmandu Wednesday, the newly elected General Secretary of the party remarked that Prime Minister and party President Sher Bahadur Deuba did not heed the suggestion not to ignore the voice of the time.

Leader Thapa claimed that Dr. Koirala’s team had got a moral victory from the General Convention.

“We tried to get along with senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel and reach consensus until the day of nomination; however, we did not have enough time for preparation,” he said, reviewing the mega event of the party.

Commenting on party President Deuba’s activities after General Convention, General Secretary Thapa said that he (Deuba) seemed to ignore the voice of the Convention.

“We are not bargaining for the post, we want party President to recognize the voice of the delegates in the convention and act accordingly, we want justice,” he said, adding, “Recent nominations and the party’s representation in the Bagmati Province government seem to abuse the mandate of the General Convention.”

He remarked that they (Dr. Koirala’s team) would support the party President in all ways as long as his (Deuba’s) actions are as per the party line; however, they would not tolerate it if the party President ignored their concern.
