KATHMANDU: As many as 47 members of the Makawanpur district working committee of Rabi Lamichhane-led Rastriya Swantantra Party (RSP)  have demanded the resignation of district chairman Rajkumar Neupane.

The dissatisfied faction sought chairman Neupane’s dismissal accusing him of working against the party’s interests.

RSP Makawanpur district committee members including District Treasurer and Makawanpur-1 House of Representatives (HoR) member candidate Takaram Thapa (Suresh), Makawanpur 2 HoR candidate Bharat Parajuli, and, RSP Makawanpur district committee vice-chairman Nirajan Bartaula resigned collectively.

They objected to district chairman Neupane’s holding a meeting at the house of Nepali Congress Bagmati Province Chairman Indra Baniyan and accused Neupane of inducing proportional representation candidate Nur Prasad Praja against the party interest at the last hour of the election.

“The party’s reputation could not be saved from district committee chairman Neupane as he has been working against the spirit of the party and party interest,” the collective resignation paper said, adding, “As long as the district leadership works against the spirit of the party, the party organization cand not be strengthened.”

They sought the instant resignation of chairman Neupane and demanded a detailed investigation into the issue.
