Seat allocation: Coalition parties holding meeting even today

KATHMANDU: Leaders of the ruling coalition are holding a discussion to finalize the allocation of seats in the November 20 election today as well.

The leaders held a meeting on Monday. However, the meeting could not be productive as the party leaders remained adamant about their respective stances.

Today’s meeting to be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar is said to finalize the allocation of seats among the five ruling parties.

Efforts are being made to settle the issue, Baluwatar sources said.

It may be noted that the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav has warned that it would quit the coalition if the party’s demands were not met.

The JSP, which is likely to get 16 seats, has been demanding at least 22 seats in the elections.

Meanwhile, the United Socialist Party has claimed at least 25 seats.
