Maoist Chair Prachanda discusses seat-sharing with PM Deuba



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ held a meeting on Sunday morning.

According to Prime Minister Deuba’s secretariat, Prachanda reached the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar this morning to meet PM Deuba.

It is said that the focus of the meeting was on the distribution of seats for the upcoming elections.

NC leader Krishna Sitaula’s task force has not been able to reach a consensus after all the parties in the power coalition did not give up their claims.

Following the instructions of Deuba and Prachanda, the task force is planning to prepare a draft agreement and hold a meeting of the ruling coalition today.

There are 165 constituencies in the country; however, the coalition parties claim has reached for 231 constituencies. Currently, NC has claimed for 100 seats, Maoist Center 60, CPN-Unified Socialist 40, Janata Samajwadi Party 32 and Rastriya Janamorcha for 2 seats.
