Cycle Rally calls for making Kathmandu Valley a cycle-friendly habitat (In Pics)



KATHMANDU:  A huge bicycle rally has been held from Patan Durbar Square in Lalitpur to Durbar Marg on the occasion of World Bicycle and Environment Day, calling to make Kathmandu Valley cycle-friendly habitat today.

The cycle rally started from Patan Durbar area at 7:30 am and reached Durbar Marg via Thapathali, Tripureshwor, Sundhara and turned into a corner rally. The bicycle rally was organized in collaboration with Cycle Culture Movement and Khabarhub.com.

Educationist Bidyanath Koirala, cyclist Usha Khanal, world cyclist Pushkar Shah, Khabarhub Chairman Naresh Shrestha, artist Saroj Khanal, campaign coordinator Dr. Taralal Shrestha, campaigner Sumar Sayami, among others addressed the gathering.

Pedestrians, public transport users, and the general public also participated in the bicycle rally.

The rally was organized to raise awareness about the increasing number of private vehicles, fuel consumption, air pollution and increasing trade deficit in Nepal.
