Ruling alliance for addressing national needs: Prime Minister Deuba
BIRATNAGAR: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that an alliance has been forged between the ruling political parties to address the contemporary needs of the nation.
Addressing a mass meeting organized by the Nepali Congress Morang Committee here today, he appealed voters to vote in favour of a win of the coalition candidates in the May 13 local level elections.
Hearing on AIG Pokhrel’s petition to continue on Thursday
The Supreme Court (SC) will hear the petition filed by AIG Bishwaraj Pokhrel against the appointment of the Inspector General of Nepal Police tomorrow.

Five killed in Kavre accident
Five people have been killed when a vehicle carrying Indian tourists collided with a jeep in Kavre on Wednesday. An Indian vehicle (UP 58 T 8181) carrying Indian passengers and a jeep (Na 1 Ja 4210) coming to Kathmandu from Sindhuli met with an accident at Roshi village in Kavre.
NCP leader Biplav “expelled” from party
A meeting of the rebel leaders of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ has dismissed Biplav from the post of General Secretary.
A national meeting of the rebel faction that started on Wednesday in Parsa of Chitwan expelled Biplav from the post of general secretary as well as from the party.
India proposes Naveen Srivastava as its new envoy for Nepal
India has proposed Naveen Srivastava as its new ambassador to Nepal ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country in mid-May, sources have said.
Srivastava currently heads the East Asia division in India’s External Affairs Ministry. He will succeed Vinay Kwatra, who became foreign secretary this month, as the envoy to Nepal.
