NCP leader Biplav “expelled” from party

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the rebel leaders of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ has dismissed Biplav from the post of General Secretary.

A national meeting of the rebel faction that started on Wednesday in Parsa of Chitwan expelled Biplav from the post of general secretary as well as from the party.

According to Gunaraj Lohani, a central committee member of Biplav’s NCP, both the General Secretary and the spokesperson of the party have been dismissed from their role for breach of party discipline.

Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma had been executing the role of NCP spokesperson.

Leader Lohani informed that the meeting has appointed Dharmendra Bastola as the coordinator.

Biplav-led NCP faced a difficult hour when the rivaling factions led by Biplav and Bastola came out with different perspectives on taking part in the forthcoming local election.

The rebel leaders are also preparing to form a new party from the gathering.

Earlier, Biplav had expelled senior leaders Dharmendra Bastola and Hemant Prakash Oli from the party for violating the party’s discipline.

Bastola and Oli claimed that they had the stronghold and would take action against the leadership alleging the leadership went against the mandate granted by the party’s extended meeting.
