Rumor of bomb at TIA turns out to be hoax

Flights to soon operate

KATHMANDU: A rumor of a bomb plantation has sent the domestic flights closed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) for an hour.

Authorities closed the airport and launched a search operation this morning after an unidentified man claimed over the telephone that a bomb had been planted.

However, airport spokesperson Prem Nath Thakur said that no suspicious item was found. “The search operation has been completed, but no suspicious items have been found,” Thakur said. According to him, regular flights will start soon.

Passengers were evacuated from the internal terminal building until the search operation was completed.

A large number of passengers arriving at the airport for a flight were hit as the scheduled flights were delayed.
