KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale today bid farewell to singer Raju Lama of the Mongolian Hearts band and film actor Diya Pun, who are going for climbing the world’s highest mountain, Mt Everest.

The Culture and Tourism Minister handed the national flag and Letter of Best Wishes to Lama and Pun amid a program organized at the Ministry. On the occasion, he wished them success, pledging necessary support to them.
Singer Lama and actress Pun said they were climbing the world’s highest peak with the message of the effect of climate change.

Lama said he would organize a musical program at Camp 2 at an altitude of 6,500 meters from the mean sea level in the second week of Baisakh after climbing Mt Everest.

“I am climbing Mt Everest to spread the message on the need of reducing carbon emission, to promote tourism and to deepen the bond between music and the Himalayas. I plan to set world record by organizing musical program at the highest altitude so far,” Lama elaborated on his mission.

Lama will leave for Mt Everest on April 10 while Pun will be leaving for the mountaineering expedition on April 7 itself. Actress Pun said she was climbing Mt Everest to spread the message of the negative impact of climate change on the Himalayas and to publicize the Nepali films across the world. (RSS)
