RSP Chair Lamichhane bars lawmakers from visiting ministries for personal favors

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane has issued a strict directive to party lawmakers and leaders to stop unnecessary visits to government ministries at Singha Durbar for personal interests or political lobbying.

Addressing the RSP parliamentary party meeting on Friday, Lamichhane warned lawmakers against seeking appointments or favors for relatives and associates. He stressed that the party’s rise to power was fueled by the sacrifices of “Gen-Z” voters and urged representatives to honor that mandate rather than engaging in traditional nepotism.

According to party spokesperson Manish Jha, the RSP has introduced a new duty calendar to institutionalize grievance handling. Under this system, one central committee member and one lawmaker will be stationed at the party office daily to address public concerns, reducing the need for crowded delegations at ministries.

“Lawmakers and ministers have been told to avoid creating unnecessary crowds at government offices,” Jha stated.

The meeting, which was also attended by Prime Minister and Parliamentary Party Leader Balendra Shah, finalized names for new Cabinet inductions following recent vacancies. The party has decided to send Ramji Yadav, an MP from Saptari, as the Minister for Labor, Employment, and Social Security. Similarly, Gauri Kumari Yadav, an MP from Mahottari, has been nominated as the Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies.

Furthermore, the parliamentary party officially decided to support and vote for Ruby Kumari Thakur of the Shram Sanskriti Party in the upcoming election for the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. With the prorogation of the parliamentary session, Lamichhane also instructed lawmakers to return to their respective constituencies to focus on local coordination and development initiatives.
