KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has decided to print ballot papers for 747 local levels by May 1.

The EC is preparing to print the ballot papers of the remaining six metropolitan cities by April 5.

The EC has already started printing ballot papers for the local elections to be held on May 13.

Janak Shiksha Samagri, based in Bhaktapur, is printing ballot papers for the upcoming local elections.

Assistant Spokesperson of the Commission Surya Prasad Aryal informed that ballot papers have been sent to the districts by various political parties before nominating their candidates.

According to him, the ballot papers made with the symbols of the main political parties will be sent to other places except for the big local level of the district.

The printing of ballot papers will be delayed for a few days at the local level where there will be more voters in the election.

Aryal said that the ballot papers should be sent two weeks before the election as the ballot papers have to be verified.

The commission will print 20 million ballot papers.
