District committee authorized to form electoral alliance: NC leader Koirala

TANAHU: Central committee member of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) Dr Shekhar Koirala said the NC had entrusted the authority to the district committees to forge an electoral alliance for the upcoming local level election.

The local level election is slated for May 13 this year in a single phase. At a meeting organized by NC, Tanahu, leader Koirala explained that the district committees could consider entering the electoral alliance with other political parties as per the need.

Assuring freedom to the district committees for the electoral alliance, Koirala further said, “The decision to allow district committees to decide on electoral alliance for the upcoming local level is the right decision. The center does not interfere with the name of forming a coalition.”

According to him, the party held the notion in many districts that NC should contest the election on its own.

“Let’s form an alliance wherever necessary,” he said.
