NHRC urges to execute investigation with restraint

KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has said that various propagandist messages circulated in connection with actor Paul Shah’s rape allegation cases have drawn the human rights surveillance body.

Issuing a press statement on Friday, NHRC has urged all to exercise restraint and assist in the investigation of the case.

“While the Tanahu Police is investigating the rape allegations against actor Pal Shah, the Commission has drawn serious attention to the propaganda, demonstrations and public statements being made for and against the alleged in various media and social media,” the national human rights surveillance body said, adding, “The investigation of serious crimes should be conducted in a confidential, impartial, independent and fearless environment as per the principles of criminal justice.”

The Commission has urged all to be sensitive and restrained in this case while protecting the right to privacy.

Actor Shah is in police custody after a minor filed a rape allegation case against him few days before.
