Maoist Center’s CC meeting rescheduled for 1 pm

KATHMANDU: The Central Committee (CC) meeting of the CPN (Maoist Center) called for 11 am has been rescheduled for 1 pm.

The CC meeting has been adjourned for 1 pm due to lack of preparations, CC member Lokendra Lamsal has informed.

Currently, former Standing Committee members are holding a meeting to set agenda items for the meeting at the Maoist Center Chairman’s residence in Khumaltar.

The meeting to be held at the Rastriya Sabhagriha, Exhibition Road today will chalk out the party’s future action plan. The party is yet to nominate office bearers.

Likewise, the meeting will also dwell on the formation of the party’s Standing Committee, politburo and division of responsibilities of central leaders.

The Maoist party is currently embroiled in a controversy after Chairman Prachanda went against the decision of the parliamentary party to quit the government rather than passing MCC.

The disgruntled faction led by party leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha is likely to raise the issue of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) that has been ratified by the Parliament earlier this week.

Shrestha has been criticizing party Chairman Prachanda for supporting the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government to ratify MCC.

Leaders Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Dev Gurung, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, Lilamani Pokhrel among others have been putting forth different views on the issue.

Earlier, a meeting of the party’s Central Committee was held in Lalitpur for the first time after the party’s eighth general convention, which re-elected Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” as the chairman.

The meeting is likely to be extended for two to three days.
