Mahadev cave in Taraghari becoming popular for religious tourism



KATARI: The Mahadev Cave located at Taraghari of Katari municipality-3 in Udayapur is becoming a new destination for religious tourism.

Mahadev Cave is becoming a new destination for pilgrims it is believed that worshiping in Mahadev Cave will lead to spiritual awakening.

It is also convenient as it is connected with the Siddicharan Highway and near Katari Bazaar.

Pilgrims from Province 1, Bagmati, Madhes Province as well as from India come here for visit, said Ratna Bahadur Sunuwar, Chair of the Cave Management Committee.

The number of worshipers and pilgrims is increasing. Presently, more than one hundred through pilgrims visit the cave every year.

According to the committee, in the near future, there are plans to build a library of religious books, a cultural art training center, various playgrounds, a Buddhist stupa, a view tower among others.

A large number of devotees visit the cave on Mondays and during festivals like Ekadashi, Balachaturdashi, Shivaratri and Ram Nawami.

People also come here for marriage, Bratabandha, Mahayagya, Saptaha, Purana, Rudri and Graha Japa.

Amrit Bahadur Thapa, the treasurer of the committee said the committee is working to develop the cave as a model religious place in the region.
