Her statement comes in the wake of U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.

Ambassador Hou said China and Nepal are good neighbors, trustworthy friends and reliable partners linked by mountains and rivers.

“Nepal and China have understood and supported each other on issues of core interests when it comes to sovereignty, security and territorial integrity,” she said.

She added that Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan was a “serious violation of the one-China principle” and the political foundation of China-U.S. relations.

Stating tha the visit seriously infringed upon China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, Hou said Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory.

She also stated that the position of the Chinese Government and people on the Taiwan question has been consistent.
