NID should come under Home Ministry’s purview: Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Minister Gagan Thapa has demanded that the National Investigation Department (NID) should come under the purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Speaking at a meeting of the State Affairs Committee under the House of Representatives (HoR) on Wednesday, Thapa said that the NID should come under the Ministry of Home Affairs and not under the Prime Minister’s Office.

Thapa said NC would not back down from its earlier decision that the NID should remain under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

“Earlier, there were suspicions that the NID was run under the Prime Minister’s Office. The situation hasn’t changed today,” he said.
