Nepal Academy extends duration of book exhibition



KATHMANDU: The duration of a book exhibition organized on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Nepal Academy has been extended till the Bhanu Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya.

According to event manager Sudhir Dhungel, the book fair that kicked off on June 19 was initially scheduled for 15 days. Now it has been extended till July 13 (Asar 29).

The duration was lengthened bearing in mind increasing public interest. It is said that the exhibition is drawing a noticeable number of visitors each day. Books of diverse categories ranging price from Rs 3 to Rs 2,070 have been displayed on sale in the expo.

They are of linguistics, literature, children’s literature, journal, critique, science, culture, translation, and philosophy genres.

Around 500 varieties which also include encyclopedias and dictionaries are available in the expo that offers a 15-percent discount in the purchase of Nepali Brihat Sabdakosh (dictionary) and the Pragya Nepali-English Dictionary.

The English version of the novel ‘Hitler Ra Yahudi (Hitler and the Jews)’ by litterateur BP Koirala is also on sale.

Likewise, a discount up to 40 percent has been offered in the Academy’s publications since the past 49 years.

At least three book fairs in a year are in the calendar of the Academy.

Around 300 people are visiting the event and the Academy sells products worth Rs 20,000 on a daily basis, Dhungel told the RSS. (RSS)
