KMC’s mayor and deputy mayor inspect Sisdol landfill site

KATHMANDU: Newly elected Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balendra Shah has inspected Sisdol landfill site for the second time.

Mayor Shah and Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol have reached Sisdol after the Kathmandu Valley has been facing problems in waste management for a long time.

Mayor Shah, who has given priority to waste management in the Kathmandu Valley, had consulted with Urban Development Minister Ram Kumari Jhakri only on Thursday evening.

Minister Jhakri and Mayor Shah and Deputy Mayor Dangol discussed the solution to the problem in cooperation with the Ministry of Urban Development and the Kathmandu Metropolis in waste management in the Kathmandu Valley.

Similarly, Mayor Balendra said that chemicals will be brought to remove the odor at the beginning. He said that it will take about 3 to 4 months to generate fuel from the garbage.

He also said that the work of spreading public awareness among the locals of Kathmandu will be started immediately to separate biodegradable and non-biodegradable garbage.
