Election campaign gains pace in Rukum East



RUKUM EAST: With the publication of the final name list of election candidates, the electoral campaign has been intensified by the political parties.

There are a total of 384 candidates from three rural municipalities in the district. A woman candidate from Bhume Rural Municipality-3 has been nominated unopposed.

Nine political parties are in the fray here. They are NC, CPN UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, RPP, Nepal Workers and Peasant Party, National Mongol Organization, and Rastriya Janamorcha Party. In addition to these, there are some independent candidates as well.

They are organizing door-to-door campaigns now. Chief District Officer Krishna Bahadur Khadka informed that a necessary security arrangement was put in place to hold the election in a peaceful atmosphere. It is the responsibility of all sides to conduct the election peacefully and fairly, he said, adding that security persons were being mobilized in the necessary places.

In the district, there are 35 polling stations and 49 polling centers.

The CPN (Maoist Centre) has made public the election commitment papers from ward to rural municipalities. The NC has also finalized the draft of the election manifesto, according to district working committee member of NC, Lilaram Budha.

Similarly, the CPN UML has intensified election campaigning by making public the election manifesto.

The CPN (Unified Socialist) is conducting the door-to-door campaign and cadres meetings. The independent candidates have followed suit.
