Injured leopard rescued in Ilam

KATHMANDU: A leopard found injured in Maijogmai-6 Pyang of Ilam has been rescued.

The locals had informed the police after seeing a leopard in a gorge.

After the police informed the Sub-Divisional Forest Office, Naya Bazar, a team of forest officials rescued the leopard and brought her to the Divisional Office in Ilam last night.

The injured leopard has been sent to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve for treatment and rehabilitation, according to Chief of the District Forest Office, Ilam, Indra Mani Bhandari.

The leopard was found with wounds in the body and an investigation is underway to find whether it was due to an attack by humans or injured by other wild animals.
