EC secures Rs 8.11 billion from govt to manage local level election



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has said that it has secured a budget of Rs. 8.11 billion for managing and holding the local level elections slated for May 13.

At a regular press conference on Thursday, EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma said that the Finance Ministry had ensured Rs 8.11 for the EC to hold the election for now. Similarly, the EC will verify the voters’ list and rectify errors by March 10, he said.

He added that the names of political parties vying at the local level would also be published by March 10 and that the EC had been investigating 80 parties that registered to participate in the election.

The EC also said that the list of Chief Electoral Officers and Election Officers to be deployed at the local level had been received from the bodies concerned.
