All parties should keep nation and people at center: NC leader Singh

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Prakash Man Singh has said that all the political parties should carry out works keeping the nation and the people at the center in the context of the federal parliament ratifying the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact.

Addressing the 50th meeting of NC Kathmandu District Working Committee at Dhulikhel of Kavrepalanchowk Thursday, he said unlike in the other parties, nobody in the NC has a differing view on MCC.

Leader Singh urged all the parties to forge national consensus for moving forward in the interest of the nation and the people by keeping them in the center. He stressed focusing attention on carrying out national development based on national consensus by taking grants and other assistance from donor countries for works that are in the national interest.

The former Deputy Prime Minister also called upon the main opposition party CPN-UML to carry out ‘responsible politics’ based on understanding. He said it is the responsibility of the government to conduct the elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner now that the date for the election has been fixed.

Leader Singh also expressed the belief that the present government under the leadership of the Nepali Congress would fulfill this responsibility well. The meeting will be centred on clarifying its views regarding organizational mobilization for the upcoming election and important national political issues, the NC has stated.
