LMC effortful to keep high standards of bill related to security printing

KATHMANDU: The Legislation Management Committee of the National Assembly (NA) has been effortful to speed up the formulation of a law related to security printing without compromising its standards.

Of late, the LMC has been holding clause-wise discussion with the experts and stakeholders on the bill formulated to manage security printing that can check annual outflow of Rs 10 billion for security printing.

Committee President Parsuram Meghi Gurung shared that the discussion on the bill related to security printing in the committee has almost come to a final stage.

“Annually over Rs 10 billion is flowing to the foreign countries for the printing of bank notes, passport, national ID card, postal stamp and driving license, among others. Continuous and rigorous discussion is underway so as to keep the standards of the government-introduced law to print security related documents in Nepal”.

In lack of security printing related law and equipment, printing of the security related documents has not been made possible in Nepal.

The NA committee would finalize the report based on the discussions with experts and stakeholders soon.

It may be noted that the government has set its mission to fully operate security printing in the country within three years.

The government is planning to carry out the works related to law and physical infrastructure for security printing within two years.
