Maoist Center fails to sort out office bearers

Prachanda proposes finalizing office-bearers after leader Barsha Man Pun's arrival

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center has failed to finalize the name of office bearers in its first Central Committee meeting held in Lalitpur on Monday.

Earlier, the meeting re-elected Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as party Chairman.

According to Maoist Center sources, Monday’s meeting failed to chose the names of office bearers as the aspirants for the post turned unmanageable due to large number.

However, Maoist Center central member Krishna Bahadur Mahara dismissed the rumor. He said that the meeting has been postponed till January 9 as the party has to do more homework on the issue of office bearers.

A source claimed that Maoist Center Chair Prachanda proposed to postpone the selection of office bearers till leader Barsha Man Pun, who is undergoing treatment in China, returned home.

The Maoist chair informed the central members that Pun would be discharged on Tuesday and would arrive Nepal in a few days.

The 8th General Convention of Maoist Center started on December 26 and concluded picking name of 236 central committee members on January 2.

The Convention gave the responsibility of selecting office bearers to party’s new Central Committee.
