Nirmala Pant rape and murder Case: Indian national arrested for investigation

DNA sent for test



KANCHANPUR: Kanchanpur police has arrested an Indian national in connection with the rape and murder of Nirmala Pant of Kanchanpur.

According to Kanchanpur Police, the suspect has been arrested and is being questioned by the police.

Earlier, the body of Nirmala Pant was found in sugarcane field of Bhimdatta Municipality-18 of Kanchanpur on July 27, 2018. Since then, the police have been arresting and questioning various suspects.

However, the culprits of this case have not been arrested so far.

Earlier, the police had conducted more than 100 DNA tests on the basis of their involvement in the incident.

According to police sources, an investigation has been started by bringing an Indian to Nepal on the charge of being involved in the incident. It is said that the youth, with Ali as surname, was taken under control and sent for DNA test.

According to the police, the Indian had been missing from Kanchanpur from the time Nepal Police started investigation on Nirmala Pant’s rape and murder case.

Police are preparing to conduct further investigation into the matter only after his (Ali) DNA test.

In his initial statement, the youth denied any involvement in the incident. However, the locals had given a statement that the youth had been teasing Nirmala at that time.
