Maoist Center’s meeting shifted from Kathmandu to Lalitpur



KATHMANDU: After convening the eight-day long 8th General Convention of the party at Pragya Bhawan, Kathmandu, CPN-Maoist Center has convened the maiden central committee meeting at Heritage Plaza, Sanepa Lalitpur on Monday.

The first meeting of the Central Committee selected on the last hour of the general convention on Sunday has been scheduled for 3 pm Monday in Sanepa, Lalitpur.

The eighth national general convention held at Pragya Pratisthan in Kamaladi of the capital since December 26 ended late on Sunday.

The gala event of the party concluded after Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ read out the names of the Central Committee members saying that they were selected by consensus.

The party’s general convention had given Prachanda the mandate to come up with the list of central committee members.

Chairman Dahal read out the list of 236 out of 299 central members. The remaining 63 members are yet to be nominated in the coming days.

The first meeting of 236 central members will be at 3 pm this afternoon.
