Sudanese PM Hamdok steps down

KHARTOUM: Sudan’s Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok has resigned just weeks after he was reinstated in a controversial deal with the military.

Hamdok had been under house arrest after the army seized power in October, but he was reinstated following a power-sharing deal with the coup’s leader.

Protesters rejected the deal outright, calling for an entirely civilian political rule. At least two people were killed in the demonstration that followed his resignation.
