Home Minister takes stock of disasters; urges for rescue, relief efforts

Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has acquired information about recent incidences of landslides and floods at different parts of the country and losses caused by the disasters, directing the bodies concerned to gear up the rescue, relief and management efforts.

The Home Minister has updated himself about the landslide occurred at Rum of Malika rural municipality-2 in Myagdi, the road obstruction caused by the landslip at Kerbari of Bharatpur metropolis-29 and the losses due to the last night’s landslide at Ichhakamana rural municipality in Chitwan and so on.

Nepal plays a draw with Bangladesh to keep hopes of final

Nepal held Bangladesh to a 1-1 draw in the SAFF U-20 Championship football tournament.

In the last match of the league held today at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, India, Nepal drew 1-1 with Bangladesh to keep the hope alive of qualifying for the final.

Nepal has climbed to the second position in the points table with 7 points in 4 games. Bangladesh has already confirmed its place in the final.

Unbeaten Bangladesh has collected 10 points in 4 matches. Bangladesh is in the top position.

TU holding CMAT exam on Sept 10

Tribhuvan University is holding the Central Management Admission Test (CMAT) examination for admission to different programs under the Faculty of Management on September 10.

In a notice published on Tuesday, the Faculty of Management said students interested to study Bachelor in Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Business Administration-Finance (BBA-F), Bachelor of Business Management (BBM), Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM), Bachelor of Information Management (BIM), Bachelor of Mountaineering Studies (BMS) and Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) in colleges affiliated to the Tribhuvan University can fill application form between August 3 and September 2.

Deposits fall by Rs 28 billion in second week of this fiscal

Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) has unveiled an elaborate report on the trend of deposit and lending in the nation’s Commercial banks.

The new fiscal year began from July 17, 2022.

This is the data reported as of second week of current fiscal year.

The CD ratio till July 29 was 87.98%. However, the same ratio as of August 1 stood at 87.87%.

The total deposits in commercial banks has fallen by Rs 28 billion from July 24-30 to stand at Rs 4,450 billion.

From July 17-23 (first week of new fiscal), this figure had fallen by Rs 63 billion from the week before that.

UML and Maoist Center stand together demanding withdrawal of cases against Biplav

CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Center have come together in demanding withdrawal of cases charged against the general secretary of the Biplav-led Nepal Communist Party Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ and others.

Speaking at the special session of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, UML Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai objected to the warrant issued against Biplav and his leaders and demanded the government withdraw the cases.

No entry to post seekers in Rastriya Swotantra Party: Chair Lamichhane

 Chairman of Rastriya Swotantra Party Ravi Lamichhane has said that he would not allow those who seek various positions to join his party.

Addressing a Karnali provincial gathering in Surkhet on Tuesday, he said that those who come looking for a post are not allowed entry into his party. He said, “Those who are used to saying they will join this party and that party if they get a certain position, they would not get to join this party as long as this party lives, as long as I live.”

Dharan UML accuses Mayor Harka Rai of making irresponsible statements

The CPN-UML has accused Mayor of Dharan sub-metropolis Harka Sampang Rai of making irresponsible statements.

UML Dharan Chair Harka Jung, issuing a statement on Tuesday, objected to Mayor Sampang’s statement on victims of Baraha Savings and Credit Cooperative.

UML’s statement read, “Mayor Rai’s recent remarks have tainted the image, glory and dignity of Dharan residents, sub-metropolitan city office and people’s representatives.”

The UML said Rai himself was responsible for the incident in which the mayor’s office was vandalized.

Nepal sees 814 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of 814 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Tuesday.

Out of the confirmed cases, 509 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 305 through the Antigen method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 5,415 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

Of them, 2,762 samples were tested through RT-PCR and 2,653 through the Antigen method.

Two persons die, three go missing as landslide destroys house

Two persons died and three others went missing when a landslide damaged a house at Rum of Malika Rural Municipailty-2 in Myagdi district this morning.

Rajan BK and Nabin BK, sons of Gothe BK, were found dead in the debris after the house belonging to Gham Bahadur BK and Gothe BK was destroyed by the landslide, according to former ward member, Sam Bahadur BK.

Similarly, Gothe and his wife have been injured in the incident. Those missing in the landslide are Gham Bahadur, his wife Ram Maya and daughter Roji BK.
