Nepal plays a draw with Bangladesh to keep hopes of final

KATHMANDU: Nepal held Bangladesh to a 1-1 draw in the SAFF U-20 Championship football tournament.

In the last match of the league held today at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, India, Nepal drew 1-1 with Bangladesh to keep the hope alive of qualifying for the final.

Nepal has climbed to the second position in the points table with 7 points in 4 games. Bangladesh has already confirmed its place in the final.

Unbeaten Bangladesh has collected 10 points in 4 matches. Bangladesh is in the top position.

However, Nepal will have to wait for the result of the match between India and Maldives to reach the final. If India loses against Maldives, Nepal will reach the final. If India wins or plays a draw, Nepal will be out of the tournament.

The match between India and Maldives is currently underway. India is in third place with 6 points from 3 matches.

Maldives has been eliminated from the tournament with 1 point. Earlier, in the match today, the first half of the game ended in a goalless draw. Both goals of the game were scored in the second half.

In the 63rd minute of the game, Mohammad Piyas Ahmed Nova of Bangladesh scored a goal to give his country a lead. However, the lead did not last long, as Niranjan Malla scored in the 68th minute to bring the match to a 1-1 draw.
